Caregivers Month 2021

Every November, the Parkinson’s Foundation joins organizations across the country to honor care partners for National Family Caregivers Month. Despite ongoing challenges, caregivers and care partners work hard to keep their loved ones healthy and safe.

This year, we aim to remind care partners about the importance of caring for themselves while caring for a loved one with Parkinson’s disease (PD). This National Family Caregivers Month, we encourage you to #BeASelfCareGiver.

What does it mean to #BeASelfCareGiver?

This National Family Caregivers Month builds upon the continued resilience of the care partner community. Over the past year, care givers and care partners have taken extra precautions to keep themselves and their loved ones safe from COVID-19. With this added responsibility, care partners may have forgotten to address their own mental and physical wellbeing.

Self-care is the practice of taking an active role in protecting one’s own wellbeing. It is important to retain a meaningful relationship with yourself and manage your own self-care to effectively care for your loved one with Parkinson’s. Your needs are important, too!
