Live Fitness Friday: Maintain a Step Ahead

Maintain a step ahead with the PD-Connect BASIX™ program. A multi-FUNctional class focusing on Balance, Aerobics, Strength, Integration and eXcellence. Engage in our award winning live "Show" and enjoy aerobic activity, dance, strength and dynamic skills to stay ahead of your PD symptoms. The goal is for moderate to vigorous intensity, with modifications in standing and in the chair. Parkinson's-specific fitness couldn't be more fun!

Equipment needed: Chair, weights (or canned goods), and a tennis ball

Please keep a bottle of water nearby. Enjoy the session!

Live Fitness Friday: Festivus Theme

Join us for a fun, holiday-themed class that provides a comprehensive workout, including strength, balance, coordination, and aerobic exercises.  Based on the zany holiday tradition of Festivus, we will perform feats of strength, air grievances about hard to do (but worthwhile!) aerobic exercises, work on balance with our Festivus poles, and finish off with miraculous coordination exercises.

This one-of-a-kind class integrates evidence-based exercises in an upbeat and engaging format. The only equipment required is a pole - could be a cane, tall umbrella, or broom. Seated and standing options will be offered.

Live Fitness Fridays - Boxing Basics and Intro to Focus Mitts

This week’s Fitness Friday will offer a  workout that will focus on proper boxing form, breaking down the individual moves from basic stance to more complex punching combinations.  

Our instructors will share how Rock Steady Boxing makes adaptations to a traditional boxer’s training regimen to address Parkinson’s symptoms.  Instructors will offer basic boxing moves and the Rock Steady Boxing “brand” with fun, upbeat music, and humor. We will feature a personal connection to someone with Parkinson’s, offering words of encouragement and inspiration to viewers.

Equipment needed: sturdy chair and water bottle.
