The Parkinson’s Foundation, in collaboration with IU Health-A Parkinson's Foundation Center of Excellence, is hosting its annual Parkinson’s Disease Symposium. This informative event will feature discussions on key topics such as sleep, mindfulness-based stress reduction, and the impact of Parkinson’s disease on autonomic function. Attendees will also have the opportunity to explore a vendor fair, highlighting valuable local resources for individuals affected by Parkinson’s disease.

Living with Parkinson's can be challenging, but there are many things you can do to maintain and improve your quality of life. This program will provide you with information to help you find the balance between a proactive approach and wondering what lies ahead. We will cover common Parkinson's disease (PD) medications, their benefits, potential side effects, and the need for adjustments over time. We will also emphasize the importance of a well-rounded care plan that includes exercise and social engagement to combat isolation. Together, these factors can greatly improve the quality of life for those living with PD.

There are many non-motor challenges associated with Parkinson's disease that may not always be easy to discuss. With a focus on sleep issues and falls, this program will provide strategies for coping and talking about it with healthcare providers or loved ones. We will hear about how Parkinson's affects sleep quality and learn about the neurobiology behind fall risk.

Navigating Parkinson’s disease involves looking ahead, learning and adjusting as symptoms and needs change. This program addresses some of the challenges of advancing PD and explores strategies to prepare for the future, including how to evolve your care plans and treatments throughout progression so you can live your best life with PD now.

A virtual network for people living with Parkinson's disease (PD) who live alone, by choice or circumstance. The purpose of this group is to create a community of support for those living without a care partner. People living with PD are the experts about what challenges, changes and accommodations are needed on a daily basis. This network will provide a place to share ideas, concerns, brainstorm strategies, suggestions, resources & to build relationships.

The Parkinson's Foundation is providing the initial funding and support to kick start this network. It will most likely become a very strong network that will operate independently although the Parkinson's Foundation will always be an entity of support & information for the participants.

Exercise is an essential part of overall Parkinson's management. In addition to helping with movement symptoms, exercise can have a positive impact on non-motor symptoms in Parkinson's. This program focuses on how exercise supports brain health and can lead to improved emotional and cognitive well-being.

The Parkinson's Foundation Atlanta Healthcare Expo is an event designed to connect your business with resources for your Parkinson's patients, clients and residents. During our event, you will have the opportunity to hear from local Parkinson's Foundation team members, Parkinson's disease (PD) experts and Georgia Chapter Volunteers on the many no-cost resources available to your team.

The Parkinson's Foundation Georgia Chapter is pleased to host this gathering of professionals serving the local PD community. This Healthcare Expo is free to attend, but registration is required.

People with Parkinson’s disease (PD) are at a higher risk of hospitalization and face many challenges while in the hospital. It is important for all people with Parkinson’s to be aware of the risks, prepare ahead of time and know how to advocate for their needs while in the hospital.
