The Human Resources & Recruitment Intern will support the Parkinson’s Foundation’s talent acquisition efforts and play an active role in helping attract mission-aligned candidates to the organization. This internship provides hands-on exposure to nonprofit recruitment operations while supporting a national organization dedicated to improving care and advancing research for people with Parkinson’s disease.

Responsibilities

The Human Resources & Recruitment Intern will support the Parkinson’s Foundation’s recruitment and talent acquisition efforts while gaining hands-on experience in nonprofit HR operations. Responsibilities may include:

  • Assist with full-cycle recruitment activities, including posting roles to job boards, screening resumes, and tracking candidates.
  • Support candidate pre-screening efforts, including coordinating one-way video interviews, reviewing screening responses, and assisting with interview scheduling.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date candidate records, ensuring compliance with internal processes and data integrity standards.
  • Draft and review recruitment-related communications, including outreach emails, interview confirmations, and candidate follow-ups.
  • Assist with sourcing candidates through job boards, nonprofit networks, and university partnerships.
  • Support recruitment reporting and metrics tracking (e.g., applicant volume, time-to-fill, pipeline status).
  • Collaborate with HR team members on recruitment process improvements, candidate experience initiatives, and special HR projects.
  • Provide general administrative support to the HR team as needed, including document preparation and organization.
  • Gain exposure to broader HR functions such as onboarding, compliance, and employee engagement as time permits.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Sociology, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in recruitment, talent acquisition, and nonprofit human resources.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and compassionate tone.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment and communicating effectively with a distributed team.
  • Experience with or interest in applicant tracking systems (ATS), virtual interview platforms, or HR software is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Access to computer, phone, and internet
  • Prior work or intern experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated alignment with the Parkinson’s Foundation’s mission and values.
