Impact of Parkinson's in Our Chapter
Every day, the Parkinson’s Foundation Midwest Chapter works to make a profound impact in the lives of people with Parkinson’s disease (PD) who live in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. We keep funds local, significantly investing in ways to make life better for people living with Parkinson’s and their families.
In the last five years, the Parkinson’s Foundation has invested $3,051,964 in innovative research, improved care, education and resources for the Midwest Chapter Parkinson’s disease (PD) community. Here are some of the ways we are making a local impact:
Research
Improving Care
- 3,960 people relied on our Hospital Safety Guide to prepare for hospital stays.
- 562 health professionals trained in best-practice PD care.
- $900,000 funded to support life-changing care to 103,225 people at 3 Centers of Excellence in our Chapter.
Education and Resources
- 8,488 Helpline calls and emails answered, providing expert support and referrals.
- 120,713 free publications distributed in English and Spanish.
- 11,322 people attended Parkinson’s educational programs, both in person and virtual.
- 12,091 people received services through 40 community grants totaling $615,464.
- $2,550,115 raised through events like Moving Day Walks and Parkinson’s Revolution, uniting 5,308 people to celebrate movement and raise PD awareness.
