Streaming Intern
Reports to: National Director, Fundraising Events
Position Status: Unpaid
Position Timeline: Spring-Summer 2024, 8-10 hours per week

Description
The Parkinson’s Foundation is looking for an exceptional intern to work directly with the Parkinson’s Champions team to develop and implement the new Stream4PD - livestream fundraising event. The position will work on engaging both gaming and variety streamers through Twitch and YouTube, overseeing the Parkinson’s Champions Discord server, driving fundraising through Tiltify, providing basic administrative and technical support, and exploring avenues for future growth in the livestreaming space. This is an exciting opportunity for someone interested in building a non-profit resume, strengthening their background in the livestreaming and gaming industry, and gaining fundraising experience. All work can be remote and online, and we’re looking for a commitment of 8 to 10 hours a week.

About Parkinson’s Champions: Parkinson’s Champions participate in the Parkinson’s Foundation’s community fundraising and endurance programs to raise funds and awareness for Parkinson’s disease (PD). Together, Parkinson’s Champions have hosted more than 150 annual community fundraisers across the country, run more than 15,000 miles and raised more than $21 million to help make lives better for people living with Parkinson’s.
Responsibilities
The intern’s responsibilities may include:
- Remote work from their home office/computer
- Oversee the Parkinson’s Champions Discord server and engage positively and promptly with users
- Recruit gaming and variety streamers through email, phone, X, and other social media channels
- Learn and practice fundraising best practices
- Provide basic administrative and technical support to fundraisers and other team members
- Occasionally create social media post content
Experience/Skills Required
We are looking for an intern to focus specifically on livestreaming, who will report directly to the National Director of Fundraising Events. The ideal candidate will have these attributes:
- Knowledge of and interest in current trends in the gaming and livestreaming space
- Experience with and comfort operating within livestream and social media platforms including Twitch, Discord, Tiltify, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, and others
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft products including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Self-starter who takes initiative, can solve problems self-sufficiently, but takes direction well
- Strong communication skills and willingness to engage with community members through email, phone, social media messaging, and video-chat platforms
- Detail-oriented; can be counted on to produce high-quality work
- Experience with fundraising, nonprofits, social media, and/or graphic design a plus
