Field Advancement Intern – Parkinson’s Champions

Reports to: Senior National Manager, Fundraising Events 
Location:
Remote
Start date: Summer - Fall 2025 (with potential extension beyond then)
Paid or Unpaid: $16 -18/hr., part time up to 15 hours per week
Area of Focus: Recruitment, fundraising, social media to support people impacted by Parkinson’s disease

The Parkinson's Foundation makes life better for people with Parkinson’s disease by improving care and advancing research toward a cure. In everything we do, we build on the energy, experience, and passion of our global Parkinson's community. The Field Advancement Intern will work directly with the Parkinson’s Champions team on recruitment and outreach to along with digital communications (the role will touch on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Twitch/Streaming platforms). This is an exciting opportunity for someone interested in building a non-profit resume to work directly with fundraising and the Parkinson’s community. All work can be remote and online, and we’re looking for a commitment of 10 to 15 hours a week.

About Parkinson’s Champions: Parkinson’s Champions is a peer-to-peer fundraising program that allows supporters to create their own fundraisers to raise money and awareness for the Parkinson’s Foundation. Along with creating DIY fundraisers, Champions can run races around the country, create online fundraisers, or dedicate tribute pages to the cause. The Parkinson’s Champions team also oversees Parkinson’s Revolution, a indoor cycling event that happens across the country on one day each year in late February. 

Requirements

We are looking for an intern to focus specifically on building our outreach for Parkinson’s Champions. The ideal candidate will have these attributes:

  • Strong outreach skills; comfort with external phone calls and emails

  • Self-starter who takes initiative, can solve problems self-sufficiently, but takes direction well

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills – an interest in storytelling

  • Strong social media skills – comfortable on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, G Suite Graphic Design skills (Photoshop, or Canva) 

  • Detail-oriented; can be counted on to produce high-quality work

Responsibilities

  • Remote work from their home office/computer

  • Internet research and list building for event recruitment

  • External communication with prospects via email and phone call

  • Communicate with constituents on Instagram and Facebook and via email

  • Create social media content both video and photo using Photoshop or Canva 

  • Learn and practice fundraising best practices

  • Handle secure donor information safely

  • Media monitoring, social media listening and reporting
