Survey measures how the Parkinson’s disease community is coping with the pandemic

The Foundation to award $1 million for community-based underserved populations, newly diagnosed and mental health programs

  • $1 million in research funding to support PD GENEration, a first-of-its-kind national study offering free genetic testing and counseling for people with Parkinson’s disease (PD)
  • 10-15% of people with Parkinson’s disease have a genetic form of the disease
  • Genetic testing provides better identification for clinical trial eligibility and may eventually enable personalized PD therapies

MIAMI & NEW YORK – October 6, 2020 – The Parkinson’s Foundation today announced a collaboration with Amazon’s Alexa to help more people gain access to education and resources related to Parkinson’s disease (PD) in English and Spanish. Alexa is Amazon’s cloud-based voice service available on Amazon Echo devices and third-party devices with Alexa built in.
