In Memory of Alan M. Slewett
The Parkinson’s Foundation mourns the loss of emeritus board member Alan M. Slewett. Slewett passed away on April 9, 2024. As a long-time supporter and Parkinson’s Foundation advocate, Slewett joined the Foundation’s board of directors in 2001. He began serving on our Emeritus Board in 2015 — always remaining an active supporter to the Foundation.
Born in New York, Slewett moved to Miami Beach as a teenager with his parents and brother. He made South Florida his forever home, building his career as a prominent, local business owner and realtor.
His greatest pleasures were dining with family, playing golf and traveling. His father was Nathan Slewett, the longtime, former National Parkinson Foundation President and Chairman Emeritus. Alan continued his father’s legacy in his unwavering support of the Foundation and local programs in South Florida.
"We celebrate Alan Slewett and his invaluable contributions that directly impacted the lives of people living with Parkinson’s. We cherish his legacy and his many years of service to our board, he will always be remembered with gratitude," said John Lehr, President and CEO of the Parkinson’s Foundation.
Alan is survived by his daughter, Karen Slewett, son Philip Slewett, sister-in-law Sheila Slewett (wife of his deceased brother, Robert Slewett), nephew Gregory Slewett and niece Danielle (Slewett) Zimmerman.
The staff and board of the Foundation offer our deepest condolences to the Slewett family.
