We’re looking for Parkinson’s community leaders to empower newly diagnosed people. Research shows that teaching people with Parkinson’s disease (PD) ways to cope with potential future challenges soon after their diagnosis can improve their health and well-being.
The Parkinson’s Foundation’s PD Self-Efficacy Learning Forum (PD SELF) aims to teach people with PD these skills by creating a personalized health management approach. The program asks people to tap into their own power to create a personal experience of living with PD. Parkinson’s community patient or health leaders can train to become PD SELF leaders to share these tools with the newly diagnosed.
PD SELF announces that it is seeking people with PD and healthcare professionals with PD and facilitation experience to facilitate local PD SELF programs for newly diagnosed Parkinson’s patients in their respective areas. Applications are currently being received for early May training in Denver, Colorado. For more information, please go to PDSELF.org.
