Community Choice Research Awards

The Community Choice Research Awards are the first grant awards in the community to set research priorities based on the insights of people with Parkinson’s disease (PD).

Through the awards, the Parkinson’s Foundation asks people with Parkinson’s and caregivers to vote online for their research priorities. Our Scientific Advisory Board reviews responses. To date, the awards have helped identify four challenges for many people with Parkinson’s, but receive limited attention and research funding:

  • Fatigue
  • Gastrointestinal dysfunction
  • Cognition
  • Dystonia

In response, the Parkinson’s Foundation has invested $600,000 in expert roundtables and translational research grants to understand and solve these unmet needs.

The Parkinson’s Foundation thanks its People with Parkinson's Advisory Council and the ProjectSpark Foundation for their support and partnership on this initiative.
