 # Tech Tools for Daily Living

Using technology to help manage health is becoming more common for tracking chronic conditions. For people with Parkinson’s disease (PD), apps, smartphones and smartwatches may help track symptoms, stay on schedule with medications, support exercise and share information with care partners and the care team. Work with your care team to find the tools that best fit your needs.

 - ### Things to Keep in Mind When Choosing an App

    - **Everyone’s Parkinson’s is different.** Symptoms and daily needs vary, so an app that works well for one person may not work for another. Selecting an app that aligns with your daily routine and works with your current devices can support regular use.
    - **Many apps collect health data like symptoms, medications or activity.** It is important to understand how your data is stored, shared and protected.
    - **Costs can add up.** Some apps are free to download but may require subscriptions, in-app purchases or additional devices like a smartwatch.
    - **Some apps have received FDA clearance for** **safety and accuracy**. These apps typically require a doctor’s prescription.
    - **Some apps are designed for care partners.** Some let the person with Parkinson’s share information with a care partner, while others help care partners track routines, coordinate care or access tips and support.
    - **Some apps only work on certain devices.** When an app has specific technology requirements (for example, it is designed for an iPhone or smartwatch), we note it in its description.
- ### Digital Tool Categories
