##  Lou Eisenbrandt 

 

  Lou highlights her experience as a [veteran](/living-with-parkinsons/finding-care/veterans "Veterans & Parkinson's") who served in South Vietnam and her path to becoming a Parkinson’s disease (PD) advocate. In 2003, she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s as a result of exposure to the herbicide [Agent Orange](/living-with-parkinsons/finding-care/veterans/agent-orange "Agent Orange & Other Toxic Exposures") during her service. For the past 30 years, she has been sharing her Vietnam experiences with students and community groups.

Lou is a steadfast PD advocate and has been involved with the [Parkinson’s Foundation Heartland](/heartland "Heartland Chapter"), and recently joined the Parkinson’s Foundation [People with Parkinson’s Advisory Council](/about-us/leadership/parkinsons-advisory-council "People with Parkinson’s Advisory Council"). She has shared her PD experiences with groups across the country, including teaching a class on managing the emotional aspects of PD.
