#  Neuro Talk: Research Update from The CSO

  Over the past few years, [Parkinson's disease (PD) research](/advancing-research "Advancing Research") has undergone a dramatic transformation. Scientists are moving beyond the traditional focus on the brain alone and adopting a whole systems approach to understanding the disease. Today, research is looking at the interconnected roles of the brain, [gut](/events/2023/Oct11WW "Expert Briefing: Parkinson's and the Gut-Brain Connection"), [inflammation](/blog/science-news/inflammation "The Link Between Inflammation & Early Parkinson’s"), [genetics](/understanding-parkinsons/causes/genetics "Genetics & Parkinson's") and [environmental factors](/understanding-parkinsons/causes/environmental-factors "Environmental Factors") in the development and progression of PD.

Advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) are also playing a key role, helping researchers analyze vast amounts of data to uncover new insights and potential therapies.
