The Parkinson's Foundation makes life better for people with Parkinson’s disease by improving care and advancing research toward a cure. In everything we do, we build on the energy, experience, and passion of our global Parkinson's community.

The Prospect Research Volunteer Intern will work remotely providing integral support to the Individual Giving team by researching and screening potential and current donors. This is an excellent opportunity to be immersed in a dynamic non-profit environment and hone research skills while learning about fund development.

Responsibilities

  • Using professional research techniques, provides high-level research on individuals using a wide variety of biographical, career, organizational and financial sources, including online databases, websites, government sources, and other external repositories of public information to identify donor prospects for philanthropic giving.
  • Analyzes and synthesizes accumulated information to assess financial capacity, philanthropic tendencies, giving propensity and linkages of prospects to the Foundation.
  • Evaluates, organizes and edits verified data into comprehensive written reports and biographical profiles using style, grammar and content appropriate to specific audiences.
  • Uses research data to identify, qualify, assess, rank and prioritize prospects for potential portfolio assignment within geographic territories.

Experience/Skills Required

  • Current college undergraduate student or graduate student
  • Strong research, writing, interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent ability to categorize, organize, and present research with attention to detail
  • Must be able to tackle tasks with minimal supervision and work proactively
  • Experience or willingness to quickly learn and utilize Raiser’s Edge and ResearchPoint to research and screen prospects
  • Respect for absolute confidentiality and understanding of ethics statements by the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA) or other similar organizations
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
