Description

The Parkinson's Foundation makes life better for people with Parkinson’s disease by improving care and advancing research toward a cure. In everything we do, we build on the energy, experience and passion of our global Parkinson's community.

Within the team of Professional Education at the Parkinson’s Foundation, this internship will support the efforts of the Director of Professional Education.

Responsibilities

Online Courses (65%)
Accredited and non-accredited online courses for health professionals to increase knowledge and skill to optimize care for people with PD. 

  • Initiate, promote and track online course marketing initiatives via social media, organization  outreach, and other in-person and online opportunities.
  • Assist with admin work for accredited courses on learning management platform, in compliance with the Interprofessional Continuing Education policies (IPCE).
  • Liaise with faculty, planning committee, content validators and other point people for courses. Make sure all forms are up to date and on the learning management platform.
  • Attend professional education virtual team calls, if available.
  • Review online course videos postproduction 

Accredited Exercise Programs/Courses (30%)
Parkinson’s Foundation Pilot recognition program to accredit Exercise Education Programs that align and adhere to new Criteria for Exercise Education Programs and Competency Framework for Exercise Professionals (Criteria & Competencies) & Exercise Guidelines. 

  • Support newly accredited Parkinson’s Foundation Exercise Education Programs and Continuing Education Courses with Lead Contact Person – Post Pilot administration
  • Track Accreditation program/course for “exercise professional” participant survey and 1 month follow-up

PT Faculty Program (5%)
The Parkinson's Foundation Physical Therapy Faculty Program is a train the trainer program improving Parkinson’s physical therapy care by training faculty leaders across the U.S. so they can, in turn, educate physical therapy students. The intensive course allows physical therapy educators to immerse themselves in learning the latest evidence-based findings in Parkinson's research and care.

  • Assist with admin work for Faculty required documents post training event
  • Update PT Faculty Alumni Book
  • Support end of course evaluations – send out, monitor, and track reporting

Experience/Skills Required

  • High school diploma required
  • Current undergraduate or graduate student
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with learning management software preferred
