Reports to: Development Manager, Mid-Atlantic Chapter
Position Status: Paid Part Time/Temporary - 15 hours/week - $16 per hour
Position Timeline: November 2022 – June 2023
Location: Remote Position (DC, MD & VA)

Description

The Parkinson’s Foundation is looking for an intern to work directly with the Mid-Atlantic Chapter Parkinson’s signature events on logistics, social media strategy and digital communications (the role will touch on Facebook, LinkedIn, Hustle and Gratavid platforms). This is an exciting opportunity for someone interested in building a non-profit resume to work directly with fundraising and the Parkinson’s community. Most work can be remote and online with some in person community outreach as well as attending events. A commitment of 15 hours a week required

About Signature Events: The Intern will work directly with our team, supporting staff and volunteer leadership on all logistical work related to Parkinson’s Foundation events, programs, and resources.

Responsibilities

  • Strong social media skills – ability to plan and conduct social media campaigns and updates
  • Self-starter who takes initiative, can solve problems self-sufficiently, but takes direction well
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills – an interest in storytelling
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, G Suite Graphic Design skills (Photoshop, or Canva)
  • Detail-oriented; can be counted on to produce high-quality work
  • Interest in non-profit sector with signature fundraising events
  • Ability to travel within the DC, Maryland, and Virginia local areas

Experience/Skills Required

  • Assist with logistics for and attend Moving Day charity walks in Baltimore and DC.
    • Moving Day DC – Saturday, May 6, 2023 (travel to include Friday, May 5, 2022)
    • Moving Day Baltimore – Saturday, June 3, 2023 (travel to include Friday, June 2, 2023)
  • Assist with logistics for Parkinson’s Revolution on February 25, 2023, in Falls Church, VA
  • Attend all Moving Day and Revolution Planning Meetings (remotely)
  • Oversee social media posts to promote Mid-Atlantic Chapter events and programs
  • Oversee social media post to highlight volunteers and sponsors
  • Oversee printing of all marketing materials for Mid-Atlantic Chapter events
  • Assist staff with mailings
  • Assist staff with writing ‘thank you’ notes
  • Perform other internship-related duties as assigned
