Position Status: Unpaid
Position Timeline: September 2026 to May 2027, 5-10 hours/week
Location: Remote/Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska

The Parkinson's Foundation makes life better for people with Parkinson’s disease by improving care and advancing research toward a cure. In everything we do, we build on the energy, experience, and passion of our global Parkinson's community. 

The Heartland Community Outreach Intern will help support our team and will work remotely with staff and volunteer leadership to support all mission & outreach work related to chapter events, programs, partnerships and Parkinson’s Foundation resources.

Responsibilities

  • Assist staff in Heartland Chapter with executing community outreach plans with a specific focus on supporting a new outreach pilot program and volunteer engagement.
  • Assist with marketing and advertising activities leading up to educational programs, including phone calls to local organizations, adding events to online calendars, working with local media outlets, etc.
  • Recruit organizations to host virtual or in person education presentations
  • Develop community outreach spreadsheets for chapters throughout the Heartland, including contact information for clinicians, senior living communities, etc.
  • Reach out to organizations in outreach spreadsheet to discuss potential collaborations, including PD 101 presentations, distribution of resources, etc. 
  • Communicate with Parkinson’s support group leaders and fitness instructors across the Heartland Chapter to provide them with information and resources

Experience/Skills Required

  • Current college undergraduate student (Junior or Senior) or graduate student
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Interested in the non-profit sector
  • Access to computer, phone, and internet
  • Prior work or intern experience a plus
  • Ability to work remotely 
  • Travel is not required but encouraged (within the Heartland, travel expenses will be covered)
