Data Manager, Research Programs and Community Engagement

Reports to: Associate Vice President, Research Programs
Position Status: Full-time, Contract
Location: Miami, New York City, Remote

The Data Manager will support both the Research Programs (75%) and Community Engagement (25%) teams in the capture, maintenance, reporting and database build of the clinical and social science research conducted at the Foundation.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide computer programming to: create data collection screens, monitor data quality during collection, build electronic case report forms (eCRFs), generate and review data queries, clean data (logic, range and completeness checks,) produce research quality datasets and documentation for dataset distribution to data repositories and researchers.
  • Ensure and coordinate with Research Programs and Community Engagement teams the development and maintenance of data-related documentation, including data management plans, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), data dictionaries, data entry protocols, data cleaning and verification processes, and data analysis protocols related to programs and projects coordinated by Research Programs and Community Engagement.
  • Maintain awareness of project development and proactively assess and communicate any impact to data collection, management, and/or analysis related to Research Programs and Community Engagement projects.
  • Maintain study participant confidentiality throughout all their activities.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Experience/Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, public health, or data-oriented field required.
  • Demonstrated three or more years experience with electronic data capture (EDC) systems for database management.
  • Experience with data management duties for sponsor or clinical research organization (CRO) is preferred.
  • Programming experience in REDCap and Excel is required. Experience with MS Access, R and SQL is a plus.
  • Understanding of data integration issues (validation and cleaning), familiarity with complex data and structures with a keen interest in programming and database design and tuning.
  • Demonstrated understanding of statistical and data processing techniques as they are applied in clinical research.
  • Demonstrated understanding of PHI and HIPAA regulations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.


Compensation for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience.
