Many people raise money and awareness for the National Parkinson Foundation through innovative community and special event fundraisers, and we remain eternally grateful for this support.  This page is the work of one such fundraiser.  Please support them, and by doing so, support the National Parkinson Foundation.

17 year-old climber, Johnny Strange, reaches the summit of Mt. Everest; breaks world record and raises awareness of Parkinson’s!
Every year, thousands of people participate in National Parkinson Foundation events and fundraisers to increase awareness of Parkinson’s disease. Here is the story of one young man’s inspiring efforts to do just that.

Johnny Strange, a 17-year-old California resident, has become the youngest person in the world to climb the highest summit on every continent. Climbing with his Dad, Brian Strange, Johnny has climbed Mount Vinson Massif in Antarctica at age 12, Mount Elbrus in Europe, Mount Aconcagua in South America, Mount McKinley in Alaska and Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa.

He recently hiked Mt. Everest and reached the top on May 20 where he held up a flag stating 'Cure Parkinson's'. His Everest mountain climb was his sixth and he completed his final summit climb on June 8th when he scaled Australia’s Mount Kosciuszko. To view his route up Everest, visit his web site: http://strangeoneverest.com/.

Watch Johnny’s interview on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien (6/22/09): http://www.hulu.com/watch/79065.

Johnny will also appear on the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric on Wednesday, June 24th. Make sure to watch his interview!
