Miami, FL: PD-Piano Boot-Camp

This is a study of the impact of piano training on cognitive, motor, and psychosocial outcomes in patients with Parkinson’s Disease. This 30-hour, 10-day, intensive piano training will take place this summer, July 24-August 4, 2017. The instructor is a music professor from the Frost School of Music, a pianist, and a board-certified music therapist.  The piano training will be held at the Frost School of Music and parking is provided at no cost. There are no costs for participants. Gift cards of $48.00 are provided. You are eligible for this Frost School of Music, University of Miami, study if you:

  • Have a diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease, within stage 1-3
  • Are between 50-80 years of age
  • Have no previously cognitive impairment, such as head trauma
  • Are ambulatory and can move around in a piano classroom
  • Have less than three years of prior music training and are not currently engaged in music reading or performance
  • Speak and read English fluently
