Paddling for Parkinson's Story (More Info at www.paddlingforparkinsons.com)

Hi, my name is Joe Forrester and I am a current third year medical student at the University of Virginia. In 2005 my grandfather was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. This July, my grandfather's brother died from complications due to Parkinson Disease. As a medical student, I have had the privledge of helping some extradordinary people, but have also seen first hand the difficulties individuals with Parkinson's disease face. I want to show support for my grandfather and the struggles and challenges he and others with Parkinson disease face daily by raising money for the National Parkinson Foundation.

Starting in April 2009, I will attempt a solo kayak descent of the Missouri-Mississippi River. As the fourth longest river in the world stretching almost 4,000 miles and touching 13 states, this will be an incredible physical and mental challenge. Starting in Three Forks, Montana I will paddle my kayak "The Mary Agnes" solo down to New Orleans and the Gulf of Mexico. I will have to battle the weather, the river and my own fears to finish. I am doing this trip to raise funds for the National Parkinson Foundation.
My goal is to raise $20,000 for the National Parkinson Foundation. Your generous gifts support essential research into the cause of and the cure for Parkinson disease, comprehensive care and other patient services, education, and outreach.

Check Out www.paddlingforparkinsons.com for the most current news about the trip
