John W. Kozyak, Esq.*
Chairman of the Board

NPF Board Member Since 2008

Both of Mr. Kozyak’s parents are living with Parkinson’s disease.  Kozyak is a founding partner of Kozyak Tropin & Throckmorton a commercial litigation and bankruptcy law firm in Miami, Florida. Mr. Kozyak is a passionate advocate for better care and support services for families affected by a Parkinson’s diagnosis. He believes strongly in NPF’s historic commitment that all people with Parkinson’s deserve access to expert care and information. He established the Kozyak Minority Mentoring Foundation to fulfill his lifelong commitment to minorities and the underserved.

Bernard J. Fogel, MD*
Past Chairman

NPF Board Member Since 2007

Dr. Fogel has been a member of the NPF board since 2007 and chairman since 2008 and retired as Chairman of the Board in 2013.  Dr. Fogel has a personal interest in Parkinson’s—his own father struggled with the disease for decades.  Under his leadership, NPF launched a pioneer research study, the Parkinson’s Outcomes Project, which has the potential to improve the quality of care for everyone living with Parkinson’s. Dr. Fogel was also instrumental in launching NPF’s signature event, Moving Day®, a Walk for Parkinson’s, which has raised nationwide awareness of the disease and millions of dollars for the cause. A legend in Miami as both Dean and Dean Emeritus of the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine, Dr. Fogel has written more than 60 articles and he has received a number of distinguished awards for his contributions to health care and medical education.

Andrew B. Albert*

Mr. Albert is the Managing Director and Operating Partner of Svoboda Capital Partners, LLC in Chicago. He serves on the boards of Border Construction Specialties, Parts Now, Databank, Forsythe Technologies, Lawson Products and Transco, Inc. He also serves on the University of Wisconsin School of Business Dean’s Advisory Board, the Weinert Center for Entrepreneurship Advisory Board and the Northwestern University Parkinson’s Disease Advisory Board.

E. Richard Alhadeff, Esq.*
Vice-Chairman, Secretary

Mr. Alhadeff is a shareholder and retired principal of the firm Stearns, Weaver, Miller, Weissler, Alhadeff & Sitterson, P.A., a law firm in Miami.  He also served on the firm’s Board of Directors, where he specialized in real estate.

Paul F. Oreffice*
Chairman Emeritus

NPF Board Member Since 1989, NPF Board of Governors 1984-1989 and as Chairman from 2003-2007

Mr. Oreffice is the former President and CEO of The Dow Chemical Company and retired as the Dow Chairman of the Board in 1992. He has served on the boards of CIGNA, Coca Cola, Morgan Stanley, and Nortel and is currently the Chairman of Fairfield Homes and on the board of Spirit Finance Corporation.  He is also on the visiting board of MD Anderson Cancer Center. He is the only recipient ever of all three medals awarded periodically by the world’s chemical industry.  He lives in Scottsdale, AZ, with his wife, Jo Ann Pepper Oreffice.

Martin L. Solomon*

NPF Board Member Since 2008

Mr. Solomon has been a private investor since 1990. He has served as director of XTRA Corporation and Hexcel Corporation. In addition, Mr. Solomon was a director of Telephone and Data Systems and also served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of American Country Holdings, Inc. Mr. Solomon has been a security analyst and portfolio manager at various institutions and partnerships, which include Value Equity Associates, I.L.P., Steinhardt Partners and First City Capital Corporation. Mr. Solomon and his wife, Sara, reside in Miami and New York.


Daniel Arty, CPA*
President of the Board from 2004-2006, NPF Board Member since 1997

Mr. Arty has been the name and managing partner of Arty, Cohn & Feuer, a local Miami, Florida CPA Firm, in existence for over 50 years. He has served on the boards of Stanton Magnetics and Coemar Spa. Currently, he is a member of the Syracuse University School of Accounting Advisory Board.

A. Jeffrey Barash, Esq.
NPF Board Member Since 1991

Mr. Barash is a member of the bars of the state of Florida, New York and California and his practice, Barash and Associates, P.A., is located in Florida.  Mr. Barash has been active in charitable and community organizations holding various titles of leadership and philanthropy on the Boards of the Lymphatic Research Foundation, the Transplant Foundation of Florida, Mount Sinai Medical Center of Florida, Douglas Gardens, the Miami Jewish Home & Hospital for the Aged, Temple Beth Sholom of Miami Beach, the Greater Miami Jewish Federation,  Boystown Jerusalem Foundation, Shaare Zedek Hospital in Israel and the Bal Harbour Rotary Club.

J. Gordon Beckham, Jr.
NPF Board Member since 2010

Mr. Beckham is the President and CEO InfoSys McCamish Systems, LLC, a financial services outsourcing company based in Atlanta, GA. Prior to joining McCamish, Gordon was an international trade finance officer at the C&S National Bank of Atlanta, Georgia. His civic activities include serving on the board of Coach's Corner. He is President of the HFM Foundation, Inc. formerly The McCamish Foundation, Inc.

Marshall R. Burack, Esq.
NPF Board Member Since 2001

Mr. Burack practices at Akerman LLP and specializes in representing physicians and
physician groups, diagnostic imaging centers, ambulatory surgery centers, and other participants in the healthcare industry. He was listed in “The Best Lawyers in America, 2013” for health care law.

Carmen Y. Cartaya, Esq.*
NPF Board Member since 1992

Ms. Cartaya is a partner at McIntosh, Sawran & Cartaya. She is a member of the Florida Defense Lawyers Association, the Defense Research Institute and the Cuban-American Bar Association and is active in South Florida community affairs. Ms. Cartaya is a member of the Peter T. Fay American Inn of Court and the prestigious Council on Litigation Management.

Patricia de Stacy Harrison
NPF Board Member Since 2014

Ms. Harrison is president and chief executive officer of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), the leading funder of public radio and public television programming for the American people. Ms. Harrison established the first Diversity and Innovation Fund for public media—radio, television, online and mobile.  Ms. Harrison is chairman of the Leadership Council of Women and Girls Lead, and was included on the Forbes list of “Women Changing the World in Media”.  She also sits on the boards of the National Italian American Foundation and the Meridian International Center.

Alessandro Di Rocco, MD
NPF Board Member Since 2014

Dr. Di Rocco is Chief of the Division of Movement Disorders, the Director of the NYU Parkinson's and Movement Disorders Center (an NPF Center of Excellence) at NYU Langone Medical Center, and Professor of Neurology at the NYU School of Medicine. Formerly, he was the director of movement disorders at Beth Israel Medical Center and the director at the Parkinson’s disease & movement disorders clinic at the Mount Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Di Rocco's main academic interest is in developing more effective treatments for Parkinson's disease and its motor, cognitive, and neuropsychological complications.

Harold P. Kravitz, Esq.*
President Emeritus

NPF Board Member Since 1957

Mr. Kravitz is a member of the Dade Florida Bar Association and has been a practicing attorney in Miami for over 50 years. His professional background has been in banking, municipal law, insurance and automotive and construction industries and ERISA trusts. Mr. Kravitz has also been a director and chairman of several banks.

Honorable Shelley J. Kravitz
NPF Board Member Since 2004

Judge Kravitz is a Miami County Court Judge; she was elected to the Miami-Dade County court in 1992, after ten years as a general practitioner and four years as a Miami-Dade County public school teacher. She has sat in the Domestic Violence, Criminal and Civil Divisions. She is also the Co-Chair of the Legislative Issues for the Conference of County Court Judges, and has been appointed by the Chief Justice to the Local Rules Advisory Committee, authored "Construction Lien Foreclosures in Florida" and "Landlord/Tenant Law" for the Florida State Court System, served as president of the Pete T. Fay American Inn of Court, and lectured frequently on the justice system before community groups and civic organizations. She is the daughter of Harold P. Kravitz.

Timothy Martorella
NPF Board Member Since 2014

Mr. Martorella is the founding principal of Madison Capital Group, a real estate investment and advisory firm based in Miami. He has led Madison since its founding in 1998. Mr. Martorella was previously a partner at Boston Financial and a director with the firm’s Investment Banking Group.  Mr. Martorella was a principal and founding partner of Alliance Realty Capital, a real estate investment banking firm. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Carrfour Supportive Housing and is a licensed real estate broker in Florida and New York.

Gail Milhous
NPF Board Member Since 2010

Ms. Milhous is a private philanthropist and community activist. She and her husband, Robert, co-owned the Milhous Museum of Collectibles, a private museum in Boca Raton, Florida which they sold in 2012. She is on the Boca Ballet Theatre’s Board.

Roberto L. Palenzuela
NPF Board Member Since 2014

Mr. Palenzuela has been providing legal insight and regulatory guidance to both private and public companies in the healthcare industry for over 25 years. He is currently the Chief Operating Officer for Community Medical Group (CMG). Prior to his tenure at CMG, he was General Counsel, Corporate Secretary, and Chief Compliance Officer for Florida-based Metropolitan Health Networks, Inc.  Mr. Palenzuela served on the founding Board of Directors of CareCloud Corporation. Presently, he serves on the Board of Directors of Christopher Columbus High School and of Medi-Home, Inc.

Katharine F. Roberts
NPF Board Member Since 2013

Ms. Roberts is a former NPR White House Correspondent and Managing Producer of NPR’s All Things Considered, Morning Edition and Weekend Edition. She has more than twenty years of nonprofit service, serving as fundraiser and board member of four non-profit organizations in the Washington, D.C. area. She also served as Vice President of The Roberts Group, a trade association management company serving up to ten associations from 2003-2010.

Alan M. Slewett
NPF Board Member Since 2001

Mr. Slewett is the former President of Valentine Liquors, Inc., a Miami area chain of retail liquor and grocery stores.  He is the son of Nathan Slewett, the former President and Chairman Emeritus of the National Parkinson Foundation.

Enrique J. Sosa, PhD*
NPF Board Member Since 2007

Dr. Sosa, who is presently retired, served as President of BP Amoco Chemicals. He also served as Executive Vice President of Amoco Corporation. Prior to joining Amoco, Dr. Sosa served as Senior Vice President of The Dow Chemical Company, President of Dow North America and was a member of its Board of Directors. Dr. Sosa was a Director of FMC Corporation and a Director of Northern Trust Corporation.

Senator Paul B. Steinberg, Esq.
NPF Board Member Since 2006

Senator Steinberg served in the Florida Legislature from 1972 to 1982 and helped pass legislation dealing with real estate, insurance, banking and economic development. Sen. Steinberg is the president and primary shareholder of the law firm Steinberg & Associates, P.A. which maintains offices in Miami Beach, Florida and New York. He is licensed to practice law in Florida and Washington, D.C. and before the Supreme Court of the United States of America.

Bruce Wisnicki*

Mr. Wisnicki is a Los Angeles-based experienced private investor and asset manager having worked for Bear Stearns as well as UBS Securities.
