2012 Parkinson's Superstars

Gerry Brignal Haines
She has given her time, effort and energy to the Lehigh Valley Parkinson's Support Group ever since. Approximately 8 years ago, Gerry lost her husband to PD. Gerry Haines furthered her work for Parkinson's, and other service organizations as well.

Herman Schecter
I testify to dad’s positive attitude. At age ninety, dad has been physically afflicted with Parkinson’s for many years; afflicted, not defeated. He is a fighter- indefatigable in the truest sense of the word.

Irene O'Brien
I nominate my mother Irene O’Brien, because she is a positive role model to others. She is always cheerful and doesn’t let her PD get her down. She has dedicated her life to caring for people.

Jackie Hunt Christensen
Because of Jackie’s courage, candor, and gentle humor, our family and countless others have shared her journey with Parkinson’s. She has dedicated her life to ensuring that those with whom she shares this disease do not walk alone.

James Trussell
A humble insurance agent by day, James provides for the “what if’s” in life but when he is not insuring against the risks in people’s lives, he is advocating for a community of people living with Parkinson’s Disease.

James White
His stories of what it is like to live with Parkinson's, the challenges he faces daily, and the way he has managed to adjust his daily routines to accommodate the presence of Parkinson's in his life are heartwarming and uplifting.

Janet López
I gave myself the task of spreading the disease in various media, I live in Mexico and have published in countries like Spain, Venezuela, Sweden, United States, Mexico, Ecuador, Chile, among others.

Jerry Cooper
Episodes of freezing may be a complication of Parkinson's disease, but Jerry Cooper experiences none of it when it comes to devising ways to combat the progression of symptoms.

Jim Adams
My nomination for Parkinson’s Superstar is “my guy” Jim. His ability to keep smiling in the darkness of this terrible disease, and to be able to shed that light toward both parkie and non-parkie is amazing.

John Baumann
My Parkinson's Superstar has to be John Baumann, one of my favorite patients. Diagnosed in 2002, John worked 6 more years as an executive officer of a major corporation before dedicating his life, on a full-time basis, to making a difference in the Parkinson's community.
