Description: Moving Day® is a collaborative effort of the National Parkinson Foundation (NPF) and the National Parkinson Foundation Heartland Chapter. This event is a day of joining together and raising awareness of Parkinson’s disease. In 2012, over 500 participants, including people with Parkinson’s disease, family, friends, co-workers, healthcare providers, corporate leaders and corporate teams, joined together to exercise while raising funds in support of the Foundation’s mission. The quaint Prairie Village area provides a perfect setting for this exciting event. It is a day to move, a day that will move you and a day to move others.
In addition to a fundraising walk, this is a celebration of movement, with a special Movement Pavilion featuring various types of exercise including seated exercise, boxing, tai chi and “Parkinson Experience” which allows people to experience what it is like to have Parkinson’s disease. The pavilion will be open when registration begins through the end of the walk. For those who prefer not to walk, there will plenty of wonderful activities, entertainment and information to enjoy.
