Description: The National Parkinson Foundation’s Moving Day® is the National Parkinson Foundation Chicago Chapter’s new annual fundraising walk event. While Moving Day® began last year, 2012 is our first time hosting the event here in the “Windy City”, and we are joining together and raise awareness of Parkinson’s disease.
Moving Day® raises awareness of Parkinson’s both nationally and in the Chicago community. Proceeds raised from the campaign go to support local services for people living with the disease and research leading to better treatments.
With Katie Couric as our national honorary chair, Moving Day® is the first grassroots campaign to spotlight Parkinson’s disease awareness on a national level. Studies show that movement is proven to help manage the symptoms of Parkinson’s, improving flexibility and mobility. Moving Day® Chicago is so much more than a fundraising walk; it is a celebration of movement, with a special Movement Pavilion featuring opportunities for you to try activities such as yoga, dance, Tai Chi, and much more. We anticipate more than 1,500 participants, which will include people with Parkinson’s, families, friends, healthcare professionals, corporate leaders and corporate teams joining together to raise funds in support of the Foundation’s mission. Oct. 14 is a day to move, a day that will move you, and a day to move others.
