November Is National Family Caregivers Month
National Family Caregivers Month is a time set aside to recognize and celebrate the nearly 66 million family caregivers across the United States. These individuals tirelessly assist loved ones with a disability, serious illness or limitations of aging.
Many of these family caregivers are providing care to an aging loved one suffering from Parkinson’s disease. An estimated 1 million Americans have Parkinson’s disease, and nearly 60,000 new cases are diagnosed in the U.S. each year. As a leading in-home care provider, Right at Home is a Moving Day National Hope Sponsor and partners with the National Parkinson Foundation to advocate for cutting-edge treatment and care for individuals with Parkinson’s.
Fortunately, a growing network of free support programs and resources are designed just for family caregivers. They include the Family Caregiver Alliance, National Alliance for Caregiving and the National Family Caregivers Association. Right at Home also works with Dr. Eboni Green and her husband, Terrence, who own Caregiver Support Services. In addition, Right at Home advocates on behalf of families and their caregivers through their LinkedIn group, Home Care and Healthcare Advocacy.
Right at Home is here to help care for loved ones and provide respite care for all family caregivers. Our professional caregivers are trained to provide in-home care for patients within a safe, familiar environment. Regular respite breaks give family members time to rest, recharge and take care of their own health and responsibilities.
In what ways can you help honor family caregivers this month?
